Next-Generation Sequencing, Microarray and Analysis

Toray is a Japanese company that came late on the array market but have an excellent miRNA 3D gene product that CGS runs routinely.bio_001_img_01.jpg

The advantages of the Toray 3D technology are:

  • the black substrate for low background noise
  • the use of microbeads for a homogenous hybridisation

There is very little background, an increased signal/noise ratio and therefore no need for amplification. This PCR-free method  is ideal for identifying and measuring with accuracy the expression of small RNAs in Human, Mouse and Rat. Details of the arrays are here.

CGS has compared next-generation sequencing and Toray array technologies for the study of microRNAs. The results indicate the Toray arrays generate a higher number of results and more robust and reliable data. We are in the process of publishing this data.
